Program Bmw X5 Garage Door Opener

So am i at least doing the right thing as far as programming? Hold 1 and 3 button in to clear previous settings, then push in the signal on my garage door opener which runs for about 30 secs to a minute, then hold one of the BMW's buttons for 2 seconds to program?NO. After clearing the settings (button 1&3) you press and hold BOTH the remote and button you want to program until the light flashes quickly (or 15 seconds, which ever comes first). If that doesn't work, you do it ALL over again with the remote in a different position.FWIW the last time I did this (2 weeks ago on our new 35d) I tried several different distances and locations.

The one that finally worked was about 6 inches below the mirror aimed upwards. YMMV.Funf DreisigLast edited by FunfDreisig; at 04:32 PM. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.)2.

Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface (located on your overhead ) keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. During programming, your hand-held transmitter may automatically stop transmitting. Continue to press and hold the desired HomeLink button while you press and re-press (“cycle') your hand-held transmitter every two seconds until the frequency signal has been learned.

The indicator light will flash slowly and then rapidly after several seconds upon successful training. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released.

(The rapid flashing indicates successful training.)4. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button and observe the indicator light. If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released. If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a solid/continuous light, proceed with the following training instructions for a rolling code device.

A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Please use a ladder or other device. Do not stand on your vehicle to perform the next steps.5. At the garage door opener receiver (motorhead unit) in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the training button reference the garage door opener’s manual or contact us.6. Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.7.

Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.HomeLink should now activate your device. I am having that problem too - I'm an engineer, you'd figure I could figure it out. I got it working on other cars and in other garage doors - not my own X5 at my house - no how no way - tried more than a dozen times. I see lights blinking and then nothing. Now I use the old fashioned remote control, no choice.

Damn thing doesn't work.2007 X5 4.8Did you try all the buttons? I followed the instructions someone posted on this thread. Held the door opener remote a few inches below the mirror and pushed in button 2. For some reason button 1 would not learn, kept flashing fast. I beleive it only took button 2 a couple of seconds to learn after pressing the garage door opener.

Garage door opener reviews

I have two other garage doors I would like to program, but had trouble with one of them and gave up for now. What NY98M3 posted above is essentially what I read in the manual.

Program 2014 bmw x5 garage door opener

Additionally, I had to have the car running not just on?This is what worked for me.1. Clear all buttons, NY98M3's Step #1.2. Press the desired mirror button and remote button at the same time.

Hold until the mirror light flashes fast. Release both buttons.Your done.

Except if you have a rolling code.3. Perform Step #2 for each remote.4.

Push the learn button on the GDO (you have 30 seconds to complete), push and hold the mirror button in the car. The GDO lights should flash. Repeat this step until the GDO lights flash.Note: When I read NY98M3's Step #7 in the manual. I had read it as push the mirror button quickly three times, which was wrong. Also 2 seconds might not be enough time.

Hold the button until the GDO flashes. If not then the 30 seconds is probably over so repeating the mirror button for an additional two times wouldn't work.Good luck. I'm a software developer, which means I should know how to program things like this.First, my other car was programmed to work with my opener. Then, my friend's 2012 BMW X5 (exactly same model) was programmed to work fine.I have no problem to get the light flashing rapidly (step 2), but can't get through step 3, the rolling code device.

Sometimes when I push the homelink button after pushing the 'learn' button, it wiped out my other programmed devices and I had to reprogram them.Is there anything wrong with the homelink device on my new car? Can I have it replaced?
